The members of BTS have each been gradually making strides in their solo careers ever since announcing their break from group activities in June of 2022 as part of the preparations for their individual conscriptions in the Korean armed forces. As the second oldest member in the group, SUGA was expected to release his solo music right after the eldest, Jin. However, ever since the group’s “hyung” released his own collaboration with Coldplay, every member has presented their solo work to the world in one way or the other, besides SUGA and V.
It looks like the wait is finally over, though, because the veteran of BTS’ rap line is finally making his own moves, starting with a documentary to be released on Disney Plus called Suga: Road To D-Day. According to Billboard Japan, the film is set to document the 30-year-old’s songwriting experience as he works on his third body of work, as well as the preparations for his very first solo tour.
Although most sources like Billboard and Rolling Stone indicate that a release date has not yet been made official for the documentary, what might have been a slip-up on Disney’s side gives us at least a release window for SUGA: Road To D-Day. A tweet by Disney Plus Italy, which we’ll include here in screenshot form in case it gets deleted later, apparently leaked the release date for Road To D-Day, setting it on April 21.
We’re speculating that the reason for the secrecy behind the release date could be related to possible plans to release SUGA’s third solo project around that same date, which actually falls just short of a week before the rapper’s tour kicks off in New York. SUGA’s first concert will be on April 26 at UBS Arena in Belmont Park. He will also be visiting Indonesia, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, and his home country of South Korea.
