After the passing of Harold Ramis, there was an understandable surge in viewings of Ivan Reitman’s Ghostbusters. This didn’t come as much of a shock, as any death is a reminder to look back at that artist’s body of work, but it struck me as a shame that so many people hadn’t seen Ghostbusters in so long that they felt the need to refresh themselves on it. What’s even worse is any of you who still haven’t seen it.

Based on Ramis’ own paranormal research, Ghostbusters follows a misfit group of paranormal psychologists. Their luck changes for the better when they invent a way to capture ghosts, and business begins rolling in. Everyone knows who they’re gonna call when their house is having hauntings, and everything goes swimmingly until a demigod possesses a woman that one of the researchers is interested in, he finds a way to make it to Earth, the sky opens up, hell breaks loose and a 100-foot tall marshmallow man stomps his way through the city. You know, typical paranormal comedy stuff.

But really, as far as paranormal comedies go, you’re not going to do much better than Ghostbusters. With a stacked cast including Ramis, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver and Rick Moranis, there’s not a moment of the movie that isn’t worth watching. Murray and Aykroyd are especially enjoyable, but really every performance is top notch. It may not be the hardest sci-fi you can find, but there’s a pretty good chance that it actually is the funniest.

And, if you’re someone much richer than I am who has a TV capable of playing 4k, then you can watch this in even higher quality, as it’s one of the select few films Netflix has made available in that format.

That’s it for today, but be sure to tune in next week though for another edition of We Got Netflix Covered! Also, be sure to leave a comment and let us know if you enjoyed any of these picks.
