“Underoos!” The latest Spider-Man: Homecoming clip has swung online, and this one should be of particular interest to Marvel fans with a penchant for continuity, as it traces Peter Parker’s induction into Civil War and, by effect, the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole.
Aptly titled “Civil War Blog,” the footage, shot in first-person, thrusts you into the epicenter of the action, as Jon Favreau’s Happy Hogan begrudgingly whisks our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man to Berlin in time for Civil War‘s by-now iconic airport fight, one in which Holland’s Web-Head plucks Captain America’s shield from Steve Rogers’ wanting hands.
It’s a delightful moment of fan service that still leaves us giddy with excitement, and with only two days left to go until Spider-Man: Homecoming‘s long-anticipated opening, today’s extensive clip will surely be one of the final promos for Jon Watts’ superhero reboot – lest Marvel and Sony spoil all of the many surprises in store.
In tandem with Parker’s fun little vlog, above you’ll find an in-depth featurette that takes you through the creation of Homecoming. At 15 minutes in length, it’s arguably one of the most thorough previews of the movie to date, so unless you don’t mind knowing everything there is to know about Watts’ blockbuster, you’d be best bookmarking this page to enjoy said featurette after the film is released.
On July 7th, Marvel and Sony’s landmark partnership will launch its headline act in the form of Spider-Man: Homecoming. Jon Watts’ franchise reset is merely the first domino to fall, what with plans in place for a five-movie arc built around Tom Holland’s livewire – and that’s before you even factor in Sony’s own Marvel Universe, which begins next October with the release of Ruben Fleischer’s Venom spinoff.
