The V/H/S franchise draws in fresh horror talent for an annual event that’s becoming one of the hottest showcases the genre has to offer. 2014 marks its third year in production, with the third installment in the anthology series, V/H/S Viral, set to hammer into homes this Halloween.
Batting similar concepts aside (such as The ABCs Of Death), V/H/S has taken one of the most tired sub-genres, found footage, and reinvigorated it. The latest offering looks set to deliver an equally unique take, with a slew of horror maestros old and new lined up to scare the bejeezus out of you. Nacho Vigalondo (Timecrimes), Gregg Bishop (Dance Of The Dead), Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead (Resolution) and Todd Lincoln (The Apparition) have all contributed segments of utter chaos. Chaos, you say? As evidenced in this barmy new trailer that’s landed, we’d say absolutely.
The notion of an anthology means there’ll likely be an element of hit-n-miss, as was the case with the previous two efforts. That might be the case – but that doesn’t mean there won’t be a heavy dosage of scares. The quick jumps between what we can only assume are different segments include: shots of mutated genitals, creepy android-y monsters, shower monsters, shawl-wearing desert monsters… yeah, it looks as nuts as the first two. Check it out below.
V/H/S Viral hits VOD on October 23rd.
