Only the other day Michael K. Williams announced that he narrowly missed the role of Django in Quentin Tarantino‘s Django Unchained. Now, while speaking to Ain’t It Cool, Williams was asked if the “Tarantino thing” was just a maybe, which Williams replied to saying that it’s “going to go.” Williams also confirmed the January start of the film saying the film will shoot:
“January through April. I’ve been given some dates when he’s going to want me to work, but I haven’t gotten the official word yet.”
Personally I think this is great news, I love Tarantino and Williams and no doubt the undisclosed role is sure to be an interesting one.
In other Django news, Jamie Foxx was speaking to The Orlando Sentinel were the interviewer stated that Zoe Bell and Kerry Washington are part of the cast of Django Unchained. Unfortunately, this is not from a direct quote but this information, if true, comes as no surprise, with Washington being rumoured for months and Bell’s IMDb page having her listed as part of the cast.
Washington has been linked to the part of Broomhilda, but no role has been rumoured for Bell yet. However, if Bell is part of the project, I think it would be a safe bet that she will be playing the widow sister of Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio‘s character), Lara Lee Candie Fitzwilly. It wouldn’t be a stretch to see Bell and DiCaprio as brother and sister as there isn’t really any other part for a white woman.
Django Unchained stars Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Christoph Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson and Gerald McRaney and is in cinemas on the December 25th, 2012.
