Ah, the Snyder Cut…
What can we say about this mythical entity that hasn’t already been said? Aside from the fact that people are still somehow – almost inexplicably – calling on Warner Bros. to release the Snyder Cut of Justice League. We shit you not.
Over on YouTube (h/t Cinema Blend), Warner Bros. yesterday unveiled concrete details about its soon-to-be-released DC Universe streaming platform, which will, through time, host top-tier superhero content in the vein of Titans, Swamp Thing and an animated series about the inimitable Harley Quinn.
And while Internet connoisseurs tend to ignore YouTube comments at all cost (or any Internet comments section, for that matter), Cinema Blend captured a screenshot of multiple people calling on Warner Bros. to release that Zack Snyder cut of Justice League – even though we’re now approaching the film’s one-year anniversary.
That’s right, it’s going on 12 months since Justice League first reached theaters, and while the radio silence at San Diego Comic-Con was widely considered to be the final nail in the coffin, evidently there is still a small (yet incredibly vocal) pocket of fans who refuse to give up.
Does this mean that we’ll never see some Justice League re-release in the future? Far from it, as we imagine Warner Bros. still has some sort of definitive edition waiting in the wings. But it’s pretty clear that there is not now (nor has there ever been) a finished Zack Snyder cut; at most, the filmmaker was likely in possession of an assembly cut, before ultimately handing things over to Joss Whedon before he vacated the Justice League director’s chair in light of a personal tragedy.
And yet, it seems this whole ‘release the Snyder Cut’ movement refuses to go away…
