Warner Bros. Hopes For Magic With The Incredible Burt Wonderstone

Recommended Videos

Harry Potter might be finished, but that doesn’t mean magic’s vanished from the big screen. Warner Bros.’ upcoming dueling magician comedy The Incredible Burt Wonderstone promises to be a laugh riot, at least judging from the trailer that was released yesterday.

Starring Steve Carell as the title character, the film chronicles a professional magician fighting to stay relevant against a hip, new street magician, Steve Gray (Jim Carrey). Professional magicians have always been a point of ridicule, especially since the character Gob on the cult favorite Arrested Development. The profession makes for an easy target, one that’s sure to bring countless laughs throughout the film.

Rounding out the cast are Steve Buschemi, who plays Anton Marvelton, Wonderstone’s assistant; Alan Arkin, who portrays Wonderstone’s childhood magician hero Rance Holloway; and Olivia Wilde, who plays Jane. With such a hilarious cast, the movie promises a good time, even if it’s not the funniest flick of the year.

Solidifying the movie’s chances for hilarity is its director, Emmy-winning filmmaker Don Scardino, known for his work on 30 Rock, Law & Order, Big Lake, Hope & Faith and Cosby. John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein, who both wrote for Horrible Bosses, lend their comedic prowess to the script as well.

The Incredible Burt Wonderstone is set to hit theaters March 15, 2013.

Will Carell, Carrey and Buschemi make a solid comedy team, or will Arkin steal the show? Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think.
