Despite Ezra Miller being an all-around bad person of late, it’s undeniable that our first look at the troubled star’s upcoming DCU film The Flash during this year’s Super Bowl got comic fans a little more than hyped, particularly for the return of Michael Keaton in his role as Batman.
It seems that anyone who has managed to see a cut of the film before its release cannot help but heap praise on it either, which includes Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav, who was reduced to an excitable Shiba Inu featured in many a meme template during the 2010’s when broaching the subject of the film during an earnings call:
Zaslav’s articulate ‘it’s a wow’ echoes the sentiment of DC Studios Co-Head James Gunn, who called The Flash one of the best superhero films he had ever seen. Given the man sits in the genre day in and day out, that’s pretty hefty praise – but given that both he and Zaslav are both stakeholders whose paydays depend on the film’s success, it’s probably best to reserve judgment until we see it for ourselves.
If heavily hyped superhero flicks like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Thor: Love and Thunder have taught us anything, it’s that we should always temper our expectations heading into these films – there’s always room for disappointment. That said, it hasn’t stopped fans from getting giddy about the Fastest Man Alive’s solo outing, particularly when it comes to some of the new characters it introduces.
The Flash speeds its way into theaters on June 15, 2023.
