Warcraft Logo And Props Unveiled At Comic-Con 2014

Legendary's long-in-development Warcraft movie had a presence at last year's Comic-Con, with a teaser trailer, so there's no reason to expect that we won't be finding out a lot more about the Duncan Jones-directed fantasy epic in the next few days. We already knew that the plot of the World of Warcraft adaptation would feature “Anduin Lothar versus Durotan, Human and Orc heroes from the original real-time strategy games," but now Comic-Con attendees have glimped a new logo for Warcraft, in addition to some props that Legendary put out on display.

Legendary’s long-in-development Warcraft movie had a presence at last year’s Comic-Con, with a teaser trailer, so there’s no reason to expect that we won’t be finding out a lot more about the Duncan Jones-directed fantasy epic in the next few days. We already knew that the plot of the World of Warcraft adaptation would feature “Anduin Lothar versus Durotan, Human and Orc heroes from the original real-time strategy games,” but now Comic-Con attendees have glimped a new logo for Warcraft, in addition to some props that Legendary put out on display.

Luckily, Legendary tweeted the logo for all of us stuck behind the desk and not galavanting around San Diego right now, and I’ve enclosed that tweet below.

Collider was on the scene to examine three new props on display, including the Doomhammer (“A savage orc weapon unleashed in the name of the Horde”), the Dragon Sword (“This gleaming blade is wielded in the name of the Alliance”) and the Lion Shield (“Symbol of the strength of Azeroth”). The official Legendary pic is also below, but Collider’s, delivered via Instagam and Twitter, are plainly better.

Jones, the helmer behind Moon and Source Code, was an unconventional choice to helm Warcraft for Legendary, so I’m keeping my eyes peeled for any new footage from the flick that might indicate the style he used in adapting the RPG. He’s certainly got a talented cast for the undeniably ambitious undertaking. Paula Patton, Travis Fimmel, Dominic Cooper, Ben Foster, Toby Kebbell, Rob Kazinsky, Daniel Wu and Clancy Brown all star.

Warcraft opens March 11th, 2016.
