Spider-Man fans are waiting with intense curiosity to see how Sony’s upcoming Venom movie plays out. While some aren’t fond of the idea of the symbiotic supervillain being split from his web-headed nemesis, the casting of Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock has gone a long way to igniting interest in the project.
So far, the production has been kept mostly under wraps. A couple of new shots taken from the movie’s set, however, could just give us our first glimpse at Hardy in character as the titular anti-hero. The Daily Mail shared the two images – seen in the gallery below – which see the actor on set during location shooting on the streets of Atlanta.
Admittedly, they aren’t the most fascinating of photos, as they simply see Hardy in everyday casual wear, which the site describes as “an all-black ensemble, including a waterproof jacket, buttoned up against the chilly evening” and “a New York Yankees baseball cap low over his head and a pair of headphones around his neck.” However, if these depict the Brit in costume rather than his own clothes, then it technically counts as our very first look at the movie’s version of Eddie Brock.
If nothing else, these pics confirm that, just as we always suspected, Hardy’s Eddie Brock will be totally different from Topher Grace’s Venom seen in 2007’s Spider-Man 3. Though the actor doesn’t seem to have bulked up to the insane degree he did for his last turn as a comic book villain, Bane in 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises, Brock still looks like an intimidating guy – even before combining with the symbiote.
Venom finally began filming in late October, after several delays, and now that the first set photos from the production have trickled online, we can expect many more to appear in the coming weeks ahead of its theatrical release on October 5th, 2018. As always, watch this space for more.
