Up In The Air Scribe To Work With Michael Mann On Big Tuna

Up In The Air scribe Sheldon Turner, has been hired to write the screenplay for director Michael Mann's upcoming gangster film Big Tuna. The film will tell the story of Tony Accardo, a Chicago mobster, and his successor Sam Giancana. The picture looks promising but Mann has a busy schedule with films like Agincourt, For Whom The Bell Tolls, and of course his HBO horse racing project, Luck. Turner isn't a free man either, he has to worry about his upcoming directorial debut By Virtue Fall, starring Colin Farrell and Eric Bana. What all this means is it's anyone's guess as to when Big Tuna will go into production.

Up In The Air scribe Sheldon Turner, has been hired to write the screenplay for director Michael Mann’s upcoming gangster film Big Tuna. The film will tell the story of Tony Accardo, a Chicago mobster, and his successor Sam Giancana. Mann described the film as the following:

“Here’s an older man who was the undisputed boss at a time when the Chicago outfit was the most powerful crime element in America. It becomes a classic tragedy of megalomania and hubris.”

The picture looks promising but Mann has a busy schedule with films like Agincourt, For Whom The Bell Tolls, and of course his HBO horse racing project, Luck. Mann hasn’t been too hot lately and I know most people were disappointed with his last film, Public Enemies. Studios may not be too eager to get Big Tuna up and running, unless of course Mann is able to secure an all star cast.
