Well film fans, we’ve come to that time of year again: Awards Season. Which means it’s also time for studios to unveil which films they’d like considered for those awards on their “fyc” (for your consideration) sites.
A growing trend in the last few years has also been to include PDF versions of the scripts they’d like considered for Best Original and Adapted Screenplay. This year, Universal Studios is one of the first to do so, offering up four screenplays (originally five, but more on that in a bit) for awards consideration.
By simply following the link provided, you can read through the scripts for The Lorax, Ted, Snow White and the Huntsman (I’m not kidding, they really want this considered), and This is 40.
The last one on that list is the latest from Judd Apatow and is not due to hit theaters until December, making it rather surprising that they’d have the script up this early. Originally, the site also had the screenplay to one of the biggest Oscar-hopefuls of the season, Les Miserables, which also hits theaters this December, but it was taken down the very next day. Luckily, some of us managed to grab a copy of it before that happened, though you can probably count on it being back up sometime in the next month or two.
Obviously, their best bet appears to be Les Miserables at the moment, but it’s always cool to see the studios posting random scripts that they know have pretty much no chance, so if you’re like me and find screenplays to be fascinating (or if you just simply enjoyed/are anticipating these films), then follow the link and enjoy.
