News has finally surfaced on Walter Salles‘ adaptation of the Jack Kerouac novel On The Road, which filmed in 2010.

Set pictures from film were first released around the time of True Grit, Buried, and Let Me In – all films that have come and gone from the big screen. The film was then shelved for some time being and is now finally getting ready for its long-awaited theatrical release!

On The Road stars Garrett Hedlund as Dean Moriarty (apparently the fictional version of Neal Cassady), Sam Riley as Sal Paradise (apparently the fictional alter-ego of Kerouac), and Kristen Stewart as Marylou (apparently the fictional version of no one).

It’s been a while since we’ve seen Hedlund in anything, so it should be interesting to see him back on the big screen after a couple impressive leading roles in Tron: Legacy and Country Strong.

As for Stewart, it looks like she’s actually having a good time here, which should be a nice change for audiences after watching her struggle to survive through the end of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 – and in general since her roles lately haven’t been short of stuffy.

The trailer features a voice-over that narrates what’s going on and from the footage shown, I think they’ve captured the novel pretty well, which is no easy task. If this is what we can expect from the film itself, then expect to see me in the audience.
