First Trailer For Martin McDonagh’s Seven Psychopaths

Today we have for you the first trailer for his second feature, entitled Seven Psychopaths, which stars Colin Farrell, Woody Harrelson, Olga Kurylenko, Sam Rockwell, Christopher Walken, Abbie Cornish, Tom Waits, and Gabourey Sidibe.

Martin McDonagh has had an incredible career despite having only made one short film (Six Shooter) and two feature films. His short won an Oscar while his first film, In Bruges, received excellent reviews. Personally, In Bruges is one of my favorite comedies of the last several years, which makes me excited for his next project.

Today, thanks to The Playlist, we have for you the first trailer for his second feature entitled Seven Psychopaths, which stars Colin Farrell, Woody Harrelson, Olga Kurylenko, Sam Rockwell, Christopher Walken, Abbie Cornish, Tom Waits, and Gabourey Sidibe.

In case you’re not familiar with the film, here’s the synopsis:

From Oscar-winning writer and director Martin McDonagh comes a star-studded, blood-drenched, black comedy. Marty (Colin Farrell) is a struggling writer who dreams of finishing his screenplay Seven Psychopaths. All he needs is a little focus and inspiration. Billy (Sam Rockwell) is Marty’s best friend, an unemployed actor and part time dog thief, who wants to help Marty by any means necessary. Hans (Christopher Walken) is Billy’s partner in crime. A religious man with a violent past. Charlie is the psychopathetic gangster whose beloved dog, Billy and Hans have just stolen. Charlie’s unpredictable, extremely violent and wouldn’t think twice about killing anyone or anything associated with the theft. Marty is going to get all the focus and inspiration he needs, just as long as he lives to tell the tale.

The trailer is quite wild, making it look like we’re going to get a lot of the same black humor that made In Bruges such a success. Then there’s that amazing cast list. Farrell could certainly use another success after coming off of the dud that was the Total Recall remake. Plus, Walken, Harrelson, and Rockwell are always a delight to see. Hopefully all of this talent will lead to another triumph for McDonagh.

The film is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival next month and will arrive in theaters on October 12th.
