The first trailer has released for Jack The Giant Killer, the upcoming film adaptation of the classic children’s fairy tale Jack and the Beanstalk directed by Bryan Singer.
Nicholas Hoult (About A Boy, X:Men – First Class) stars as Jack, and the supporting cast includes Stanley Tucci, Ewan McGregor, Eleanor Tomlinson, Ian McShane, and Bill Nighy.
In the trailer, we see a much more grim side of the life of Jack, where the giant seems to have come down from his cloudy tower to wreak havoc on the village people. The idea of the film is strange, but Nicholas Hoult does seem to be perfect casting for Jack.
As a fan of the classic story, I’m certainly on board for an awesome film version. However, this trailer is almost kind of silly. The film is clearly supposed to be pretty dark and maybe even violent, and it’s almost funny to watch how dramatic Jack and the Beanstalk can be. Bryan Singer isn’t my favorite director either, so hopefully they can pull this off.
