As promised, Warner Bros. has revealed the first full-length trailer for San Andreas, which sees Dwayne Johnson fight amidst the chaos after a mammoth earthquake — aptly dubbed, “The Big One” — wreaks havoc on the state of California.
Shortly after the monumental and abrupt tectonic shift, Johnson’s special ops firefighter reunites with his estranged ex-wife (played here by Carla Gugino) before heading directly to the epicentre in order to rescue their wayward daughter (True Detective‘s Alexandra Daddario). Although this courageous move soon lands Johnson right in the thick of the madness, as the trailer showcases some of the show-stopping set pieces within the film that include the Hoover Dam collapsing and that poor Hollywood sign being decimated on screen once more.
But hey, considering this was the film billed to out-Roland Emmerich Roland Emmerich (widely considered to be the master of destruction in Hollywood), I’d say San Andreas is off to a pretty good start.
San Andreas will rumble into theaters on May 29, 2015. Until then, you can check out the trailer above and tell us whether you’re looking forward to seeing Johnson in action as a steely special ops firefighter in the comments.
After the infamous San Andreas Fault finally gives, triggering a magnitude 9 earthquake in California, a search and rescue helicopter pilot (Dwayne Johnson) and his estranged wife make their way together from Los Angeles to San Francisco to save their only daughter. But their treacherous journey north is only the beginning. And when they think the worst may be over…it’s just getting started. The action thriller “San Andreas,” from New Line Cinema and Village Roadshow Pictures, reunites Dwayne Johnson with director Brad Peyton and producer Beau Flynn, following their collaboration on the global hit “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.”
