Spider-Man: Far From Home will see Peter Parker and the rest of the kids of Midtown School of Science and Technology go on a trip to Europe. Many of the familiar faces from the first film will be there, too, including Zendaya’s MJ, Jacob Batalon’s Ned and Angourie Rice’s Betty Brant. Plus, Crazy Rich Asians‘ Remy Hii will be joining the cast and from set photos, it looks like he’s playing another of Parker’s classmates.
In fact, MCU Exchange has a theory that Hii’s none other than Amadeus Cho AKA the Totally Awesome Hulk. Obviously, the character’s unlikely to hulk out in this movie, but Cho being reimagined as a contemporary of Peter’s at his school for gifted young scientists matches the comic book version, as the teenage Cho ranks among the smartest minds in the Marvel universe.
Helen Cho has, of course, already appeared in the MCU in Avengers: Age of Ultron and in the comics, the pair are mother and son. MCUE suggests, though, that their movie counterparts might work better as siblings. Either way, Amadeus’ connection to Helen would mean that he has a link to S.H.I.E.L.D.
We already know that Nick Fury and Maria Hill will turn up in Far From Home, so it’s possible that Cho could be planted amongst Parker’s class to keep an eye on the supervillain Mysterio, as played by Jake Gyllenhaal. The reason this is so plausible is because Amadeus was likewise hired by the spy organization in order to combat the Master of Illusion in the Ultimate comics universe.
The handy thing about including Amadeus in Spider-Man: Far From Home would be that it could set him up for his own turn as a superhero in future movies. Kevin Feige has even said that he plans to sow the seeds for the Young Avengers in the MCU and, while Cho isn’t usually on that team, he’s a popular teen hero who would be a great addition to their roster in the films.
