Despite beating the snot out of everyone’s favorite super villain Loki in The Avengers, it looks like Tony Stark has a rough road ahead of him for his upcoming outing, Iron Man 3. In a new still released today by Marvel (shown above), we see everyone’s favorite (or at least my favorite) Avenger all suited up and not in the best shape. From the looks of it, he seems to have taken quite a beating, likely at the hands of Ben Kingsley’s Mandarin.
No word yet on which scene this still is taken from but one thing is for sure and that is that the road to victory won’t be easy for Iron Man. It looks like things will be getting dark and dangerous for the playboy billionaire. He doesn’t seem too happy in the still either as he wears a somber expression on his face. What could have happened to make him react this way? Perhaps Mandarin struck too close to home for Tony Stark? Who knows?
Whatever the case may be, May 3rd, 2013 will bring us all our answers as that’s when Iron Man 3 blasts into theatres. All of the early buzz so far is positive and from what we’ve been hearing from the Marvel execs, the film is going to be one hell of a ride. With a great director in Shane Black at the helm and star Robert Downey Jr. at his side, I have no reason to doubt the hype.
Iron Man 2 was a bit of a step in the wrong direction for the studio, there’s no doubt about that, but judging by the Iron Man 3 trailer, as well as all of the other publicity we’ve seen, I think Marvel has figured out what went wrong last time and is all set to bring us another excellent adventure for Tony Stark.
