Miles Morales made his cinematic debut in the animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse last December, but one other Spider-Man can’t wait to team up with the character in live-action. Tom Holland has long been an advocate for Miles appearing in the MCU, and he’s once more making clear his love for the younger webslinger ahead of his second solo movie, Spider-Man: Far From Home.
Holland spoke to JOE recently and the topic of Spider-Verse came up. The actor said he thought Shameik Moore’s performance was “really good” but he’s “excited” for Miles to make his debut in the MCU.
“He’s really really good in it. But I’m just excited to introduce Miles into our own universe one day. I think that’s going to be really good.”
Marvel is certainly already considering this themselves as Spider-Man: Homecoming featured a direct nod to the character which confirms that Miles exists in the franchise’s universe. If you’ll recall, Donald Glover showed up as Aaron Davis and referenced his nephew. Anyone who read the Ultimate Spider-Man comics or saw Spider-Verse will know that Aaron AKA the Prowler is Miles’ beloved but criminal uncle.
Interestingly, the fallout of Avengers: Endgame could bring us even closer to seeing Miles in the MCU. As Peter Parker has only just been de-dusted after five years, it’s possible that Miles got his powers in this time and took on the mantle of Spidey in his absence. At the very least, he’ll be much older himself now, assuming he wasn’t affected by Thanos’ snap.
As fun as this would be, Holland’s comments – and we know he can’t keep a secret – suggest he won’t appear in Far From Home. However, the sequel will have a lot of other fan-pleasing moments and inclusions, according to early reactions and rumors, so we can probably wait for Miles Morales to turn up in Spider-Man 3.
