Avengers: Infinity War star Tom Hiddleston may already have one recurring franchise role under his belt, but it’s clear that a significant proportion of the James Bond fanbase wouldn’t say no to seeing the Loki actor taking on the 007 title once Daniel Craig has made his swan song.
In fact, according to the Express, Hiddleston is once more the odds-on favorite to be the next Bond, despite the recent rumors hinting at Richard Madden from Game of Thrones being likely to land the gig. The new report includes a quote from a Coral spokesman, whose endorsement reads as follows:
“Tom Hiddleston is all the rage in our next James Bond betting and is now the new favourite to replace Daniel Craig as 007.”
It’s speculated that one of the reasons why Hiddleston is back at the top of the running is a statement this week from Infinity War directors Anthony and Joe Russo. At a Q&A held a couple of days ago, the pair shot down the many fan theories about Loki’s demise being fake with their confirmation that the old Avengers villain is indeed very dead.
Honestly, this seems like a dubious revelation to base a Bond prediction on. After all, Loki is already confirmed to have his own TV show with Hiddleston in the lead, so whether or not the character actually died in his last movie is arguably irrelevant. Either way, the actor has some Marvel commitments on his plate.
That being said, the studios may well be eyeing Hiddleston to be the next James Bond, though the internet has offered more than enough alternative suggestions. But before we can see anyone else be seen in the role, Craig still has to finish off his run with Bond 25, which isn’t scheduled to hit theaters until February 14th, 2020.
