When Marvel Studios brought Thor: Ragnarok to this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, the movie hadn’t been shooting long enough for them to show any footage off. Luckily, Taika Waititi had put together a brilliant mockumentary (which has since been released online and can be seen above) revealing what the God of Thunder was up to during the events of Captain America: Civil War.
Now, the filmmaker has actually indicated that Thor’s roommate Daryl, from the mockumentary, could show up again somewhere down the line. Does this mean that the short is canon? Who knows, but regardless of whether he’s referring to a cameo in Thor: Ragnarok or some sort of extended version/sequel to the mockumentary, it definitely sounds like we haven’t see the last of him.
“Thor briefly rented a room in a flat in Australia after the Ultron debacle. Just to get some downtime – to get away from The Avengers, to get away from America. So he had a little downtime in Australian. And he met this guy Darryl and they shared a flat together. So that’s Darryl. I think you probably could see him again. There may be other little pieces of that thing that everyone saw that may just be a small part of a bigger thing.”
Keeping an eye on when and where he’ll next appear should be a lot of fun for fans, as the video received an overwhelmingly positive response when it was released online last month.
Of course, the titular hero will have his hands full with everyone from Loki to The Grandmaster, Hela, and The Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok, so his Aussie roommate is going to be the least of his worries. Even so, it would be great if Waititi manages to find a way to squeeze him into the movie, which is so far shaping up quite nicely.
