Step aside Harry, Ron and Hermione. Watch out, Luke, Leia and Han. Move out of the way, Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli. There’s a new trio in town and they’re sure to become a bonafide fan favorite. We’re talking, of course, about Thor, Rocket Raccoon and Groot, who’ll be teaming up for a special mission in Avengers: Infinity War.
As we know, Chris Hemsworth’s hero will link up with the two Guardians and embark on a side mission of sorts during the movie. The exact specifics of it are obviously being kept under wraps, but from what we’ve gathered so far thanks to various pieces of merchandise, the trio will go off in search of a new weapon for the God of Thunder, one which they find in the form of Stormbreaker – a hammer/axe hybrid which is actually partially made from wood supplied by Groot.
Unfortunately, we don’t get to see any of that here, but in the promo art down in the gallery below (which also includes some shots of the recently unveiled Hot Toys figures for these characters), we have a photo of the gang coming together to strike a battle pose. And we’ve gotta say, it definitely has us excited to see them teaming up in Infinity War.
Though not as revealing as some of the other promo art we’ve been getting lately, it’s still nice to see another tease of what’s sure to become an instantly iconic trio once the film hits theaters – which will be in April now, after it got bumped up from May. We can’t say for certain how long Thor, Groot and Rocket will be spending together, but given that they’re continuously being featured alongside one another in merch and whatnot, we’re inclined to believe that they’ll be in each other’s company for a sizeable amount of time as they search for a new weapon for Hemsworth’s character.
After all, there’s a war on the horizon and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are going to need all the help they can get if they’re to take down Thanos. Between the God of Thunder’s Stormbreaker, Spidey’s Iron Spider Suit and Tony’s Model-Prime Armor, not to mention Cap’s new shield, it looks like they’ll stand a good chance of defeating him, but we’ll find out for certain when Avengers: Infinity War blasts into theaters on April 27th.
