The latest offering is an impressively detailed and accessory packed sixth scale Thor figure, revealed alongside teenage Groot and Rocket Raccoon toys (though the Rocket one might be the same one they released for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2). Either way, these are definitely going up on my shelf.

You want a ‘luminous reflective’ eye? You got it. You want a choice of metal sleeves or bare arms? You got it. Cape or no cape? Sure. You want some electrical sparks to stick to his chest? Why not? You want four – count ’em – four choices of hand pose? Boy howdy, you got it. But the most revealing accessory, here, is a great look at Thor’s new weapon, Stormbreaker.

The axe/hammer hybrid is the God of Thunder’s replacement for trusty ol’ Mjolnir. That was cruelly destroyed by Hela in Thor: Ragnarok, but it’s looking like he’s bounced back with something truly worthy of going to toe-to-toe with Thanos.

It looks almost identical to the comics’ Stormcaster, too, a weapon created by Loki and presented to the X-Men‘s Storm, briefly making her the Goddess of Thunder. Obviously, that’s not going to happen in Infinity War, but we do know that the wood for the new weapon is due to be provided by none other than Groot.

That aside, Thor’s looking badass and noticeably more battle-scarred than he has before in the MCU and it’s nice that the will they/won’t they debate about his missing eye has been conclusively settled once and for all – or so it seems. But with Chris Hemsworth’s contract set to expire and Marvel eager to introduce a new generation of heroes to the MCU, could Avengers; Infinity War be his last swing of the hammer/axe thing? Time will tell, but we don’t got long to go now before we find out.
