There’s only one contender for the biggest traitor in ‘Star Wars’ history, and it’s not even close

No, it's not Anakin Skywalker.

Behind the exterior of epic space battles, occult wizards, and sci-fi mumbo jumbo, Star Wars has always been about each individual’s journey in resisting the dark side. And in a story so concerned about the good versus evil mythos, there’s bound to be a lot of betrayals and heartbreak — heck, even Anakin’s story is basically about that fall and ultimate redemption. So, if you were to single one villain out, who would you pick as the biggest traitor in the Skywalker Saga?

Well, going off of this Reddit thread alone, it seems the galaxy far, far away is in no shortage of despicable backstabbers. From Count Dooku to Barriss Offee (the person that indirectly caused Ahsoka to leave the Jedi Order) to The Last Jedi‘s DJ and even Lando Calrissian, fans are racking their brains over determining the bigger turncoat, but one character indisputably takes the crown home.

Yes, you’ve guessed it. Star Wars fans are once again remembering just how big of a jerk Pong Krell is.

Pong Krell is so detested in the fandom that he has his own subreddit, dedicated to fans who wish to hate on him just for the sake of it.

There are other contenders, like Finn, but none of them can rile fans up the way Krell does.

For those of you who don’t know, Pong Krell is a character from Star Wars: The Clone Wars who serves as a General of the Grand Army in the fight against Separatists. Krell becomes disillusioned with the Republic and the Jedi Code, so he betrays his comrades and ends up killing dozens of clones.

It is only at a heavy cost to their numbers that the members of the 501st and 212th Legions finally manage to capture and execute him, but his arc in The Clone Wars remains among the darkest Star Wars stories to date.
