Erik Davis, managing editor at Fandango, has just relayed word that theaters are adding new showtimes for the Avengers: Infinity War sequel. Davis also mentions that the film “may be one of the biggest movies of our lifetime,” and given the feature’s advance ticket sales, that probably isn’t an exaggeration.

On Fandango, for instance, Endgame managed to smash the 24-hour pre-sales record held by Star Wars: The Force Awakens in a mere 6 hours, before beating the same film’s record for first week pre-sales. On top of that, it’s reported that the movie managed to outsell Infinity War at a ratio of 5:1 in its first week. Meanwhile, over on Atom Tickets, the feature beat the all-time pre-sales record held by Aquaman in just 10 days.

Things have been going similarly well for Endgame overseas. In China, for example, the film sold over 1 million tickets in a record-breaking 6 hours. The movie also sold more tickets in its first hour than Infinity War managed in its first 24, before topping the first week pre-sales of Infinity War in just 3 hours.

Needless to say, this early performance is translating into some very promising projections. Just take the recent report from Deadline, which had the movie headed for a global opening well above $800 million. Not too shabby, but we’ll find out if Avengers: Endgame can live up to these expectations when it comes out on April 26th.
