The upcoming remake of a $50 million horror classic is already going over as well as you’d expect

Let's give it a chance.

It’s certainly not an uncommon practice for passionate horror fans to shun the idea of modern-day filmmakers remaking untouchable classics. Part of the reason this practice is often rejected is due to genre die-hards believing that a particular remake will never be able to match the hype and success as an original feature. This is essentially the case for the upcoming Arachnophobia remake, which has already attracted its fair share of decorators before the movie has even arrived.

Over on the r/horror platform, user u/BlackHeart89_Hue reminded fellow horror users about the upcoming remake, all while mentioning that big-time names such as Landon and James Wan will be attached to the project. But without even giving the film a chance, various commenters have gone on to quickly dismiss the remake, insisting that the movie would simply rely on extensive CGI and fail to match the charm and magic of the OG piece.

On the other hand, one horror-inspired user interestingly suggested that while an Arachnophobia remake might not be needed, an Eight Legged Freaks remake is of some importance — especially if filmmakers are able to sign Scarlett Johansson on for the project to reprise her role as Ashley. Then again, with the original Arachnophobia grossing over $50 million at the box office, then perhaps a remake is the best path taken.

With all that being said, horror fans should know well enough by now that giving a movie a chance is the right thing to do — especially after remakes such as 2013’s Evil Dead 2006’s The Hills Have Eyes have worked out well in the end. As it stands, all faith should be placed in Christopher Landon’s capable hands.
