The widely popular concept of the horror genre and MCU colliding for an epic collaboration continues to see an upwards trend. Of course, this larger-than-life collab was specifically teased in Marvel blockbuster Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness last year. But before beloved superhero Doctor Strange was memorably battling the Scarlet Witch and other spooky elements, an intriguing Marvel comic reveals that the superhero once faced a legendary horror villain.
Back in the ‘80s, the iconic A Nightmare on Elm Street horror franchise was sweeping the globe as an unmovable series. And with an unforgettable villain like Freddy Krueger, it didn’t take long before Marvel wanted a piece of the success pie — which even led to creating a comic book story based on Krueger. But when Doctor Strange attempted to get some sleep one night, it was only a matter of time until Freddy popped out for some screaming fun.
Unfortunately, Doctor Strange soon discovers that this isn’t the real Freddy Krueger. Bummer. But given that horror filmmaker Sam Raimi helmed Doctor Strange 2, it only makes sense for Doctor Strange and (not) Freddy Krueger to have one more intense battle — and fans are absolutely eating up the idea:
Despite the battle not featuring the actual Freddy Krueger, it wouldn’t be a sight for sore eyes to see the classic battle commence between these two foes. So, forget about Dormammu, Sam Raimi — we’ve got Doctor Strange’s next enemy locked in right here. Then again, that’s probably just wishful thinking.
