‘The Marvels’ gets accused of committing a ‘war crime’ after making one big controversial change

Change isn't always a good thing.

Oh, The Marvels. Any movie that was following up Captain Marvel, which despite making over $1 billion worldwide has still gone down as one of the most controversial films in the MCU canon, was always going to anger some fans, but it’s not exactly helping itself by throwing this contentious costume change into the mix as well.

The first trailer for the Brie Larson-starring sequel dropped back in April, and even a month later folks are still grinding their teeth over our first look at the revamped superhero suit Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan will be sporting in her first cinematic outing. In contrast to the version that she wore in the debut of her own Disney Plus series, Ms. Marvel, this costume is going down like a lead balloon with the fandom. In fact, Twitter user SPDRMNKYXXIII went viral for going so far as to call it “a war crime.”

Kamala’s mom didn’t break her back sewing a suit for her daughter only for her to dump it in her next appearance…

Capitalism strikes again, y’all.

They should’ve just dusted off the old Ms. Marvel concept art, say some.

Even those who actually don’t hate the suit still don’t believe it has any reason to exist given where Kamala’s story ended last time we saw her.

Although it remains to be seen whether there is an important in-story reason why Kamala had freshened up her threads — is the new costume deceptively low-fi and is actually her version of the Iron Spider suit? Probably not, but who knows! — it’s clear that the Ms. Marvel nation wish the studio had left the character’s look well enough alone.
