The Internet’s Freaking Out Over That Hilarious Deadpool And Korg Promo

Deadpool Korg Free Guy

Deadpool has finally made the leap to the MCU! Well, sort of anyway. Last night Ryan Reynolds posted a hilarious video to his YouTube channel showing the Merc with the Mouth and Taika Waititi’s Korg reacting to the trailer for Free Guy, which both star in.

As this is the first time we’ve seen Deadpool in a while, the internet predictably went nuts. Here’s a selection of responses:

Unpicking the canon of the clip is going to get a bit confusing, though it does at least solve the mystery of where Reynolds was traveling to with a Deadpool mask last month. Throughout the pair gently make fun of each other, with Reynolds’ describing Free Guy as a real “the last days of Fox” movie and referencing its postponement by saying “didn’t this come out last year?”

But most interesting is Deadpool asking how to get into the MCU, with Korg giving a hilariously long-winded explanation of how to simply believe in yourself and you’ll do it. Deadpool snarkily retorts that he prefers Thor: The Dark World. It’s a great gag: nobody likes Thor: The Dark World.

Korg’s advice notwithstanding, we already know that Deadpool 3 is coming to the MCU at some point, with Bob’s Burgers writers Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin on script duties. It’ll be quite a wait since Deadpool 2, but Kevin Feige explained that the primary reason is that Reynolds is a “force of nature” and just too damn popular to tie down.

As such, we’ll probably be waiting until 2023 for Deadpool 3, but I hold out hope he’ll make a cameo appearance in one of the upcoming multiverse-focused Marvel Studios projects like Spider-Man: No Way Home or (more likely) Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Then again, if he’s teaming up with Taika Waititi here, maybe he’ll pop up in Thor: Love and Thunder instead.
