Since her iconoclastic casting as Captain Marvel, Larson has been a polarizing figure who represents a challenge to the status quo, which makes her seem threatening to some who respond by persecuting her. Through the years, her critics have accused her of being condescending in interviews, holding controversial political views, and failing to smile enough. The resentment and negative criticism she receives point to deeper social and cultural factors influencing the perception of a female actor playing a traditionally male role. Nevertheless, her supporters were thrilled to see her back as Captain Marvel and could barely contain their excitement.

However, it didn’t take long before a critic felt the need to police Larson’s behavior in interviews with her co-stars.

Another Larson fan tweeted about their admiration the star but admitted they felt alarmed by how triggering she is to her detractors.

News of The Marvels trailer prompted a Larson critic to share an odd collection of the evidence they amassed to prove she is a disagreeable woman.

Fans of the actor continued to cheer her on while expressing a desire for the animosity toward Larson to subside.

The Brie Larson hate train has been around so long that one of her faultfinders evolved and developed enough self-awareness to reflect on the underlying reasons for their belligerence toward the star.

One Larson supporter had the final word on the matter by pointing to the star’s most iconic fan.

The Marvels is scheduled for theatrical release on November 10.
