The latest issue of Empire Magazine features a plethora of new images from Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse, and they put the spotlight on both the movie’s heroes and the titular villain’s Four Horsemen. As a result, we get our best look yet at the new additions to this rebooted franchise, including the likes of Cyclops, Storm and Nightcrawler.
While Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice may have been a very divisive movie, that and Captain America: Civil War still look set to dominate the superhero genre in 2016. That means X-Men: Apocalypse is going to need to pull out all the stops in order to stand out, but based on what we’ve seen so far, it definitely has a strong chance of succeeding in doing so.
[zergpaid]It helps of course that Singer finally appears to be embracing the comic books, bringing in more faithful costumes and the kind of huge action set pieces needed to put X-Men: Apocalypse right up there with the competition. Throw in the fact that it has an awesome cast of both new and familiar faces, and the film stands a very real chance of topping 2014’s Days of Future Past.
As well as returning cast members Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult, X-Men: Apocalypse will also introduce Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Lana Condor, Oscar Isaac, Ben Hardy, Olivia Munn, and a number of others. The movie is set to be released on May 27th, 2016.
