You can go ahead and add Kit Harington to the long list of names who won’t be considered for The Batman.
The Game of Thrones mainstay became linked with the vacant gig earlier this week, when it was reported that Warner Bros. was mulling over the possibility of casting Harington in Ben Affleck’s place. In related news, both Ryan Gosling and Jon Hamm all but ruled themselves out of the running as well, whittling down Matt Reeves’ top-secret shortlist ever so slightly.
For Kit Harington, James Hibberd of Entertainment Weekly (h/t ComicBook.com) took to Twitter to effectively debunk the rumor which tipped Jon Snow Aegon Targaryen as the next Bruce Wayne. And as is typical for Internet scuttlebutt, it seems this rumor is over before it even began.

The first time Kit Harington heard about this Batman rumor is when I called his rep yesterday to ask. So no (unfortunately!) https://t.co/Z6g8eSJvYD

With Game of Thrones fast approaching its TV finale, there’s no question that Kit Harington will soon be making in-roads into Hollywood once HBO brings the curtain down on their sprawling fantasy series. But it would seem a direct route to Bruce Wayne/Batman, arguably the biggest name in comic books, is a step too far for Harington.
That’s not to say the actor will never appear in a comic book movie; as we learned earlier this week, Harington has been pretty outspoken about the Marvel Cinematic Universe and its own issues with representation, so we wouldn’t be all that surprised if the actor was filtered into the MCU’s Phase 4 once his Thrones commitments are done and dusted.
The show’s eighth and final season is currently on course for a premiere in the early stages of 2019, while The Batman is said to be targeting a production start within the next 12 months – with or without Ben Affleck on board.
