In Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos will finally make his mark on the MCU – after six years of appearing in brief cameos or post-credits scenes – as he brings together all six Infinity Stones to gain supreme power over the universe. The worry Marvel fans everywhere have, though, is will the villain manage to measure up to all the hype?
From what we’ve heard so far, a lot of effort has been made to ensure that the Mad Titan comes across as the most intimidating antagonist the Avengers have ever faced, and that’s something which was quite evident in yesterday’s electrifying new TV spot. If you’ll recall, it featured – among other things – Josh Brolin’s big bad telling one of the Avengers that “I could snap my fingers, and you’d all cease to exist.”
This will be very familiar to any fans of the comics. In The Infinity Gauntlet arc, Thanos does just that. When he gets his hands on all the Stones, or Gems as they’re called on the page, the villain snaps his fingers and halves the population of the universe – meaning that half of the human beings on Earth disappear in an instant. Whether this specific event will happen in the film itself remains to be seen, but you better believe that the Mad Titan is willing to do it.
But I digress. Up above you’ll find the TV spot in question, only this time, we’ve got it in HD, after yesterday’s version was just a low quality recording. It’s the exact same material, of course, but given that this is one of the most exciting Infinity War promos to date, fans likely won’t have any issue watching it again in high definition. At least, we don’t imagine that they will.
With just a few weeks left now before the event movie to end all event movies hits theaters, we’ll no doubt be seeing many, many more TV spots landing online. And while Marvel’s been playing it pretty smart so far, we just hope that they don’t reveal too much before Avengers: Infinity War releases. Because after 10 years and 18 movies’ worth of exposition and city-leveling spectacle, why ruin all the fun?
