Chris Sullivan’s Taserface is ushered into the spotlight (warts and all!) in the latest featurette for James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
The in-depth preview, which you’ll able to find up above, arrived alongside two brand new clips for the Marvel sequel. The first showcases a cagey exchange between Peter Quill/Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and Gamora (Zoe Saldana), after the former confesses to flirting with the High Priestess of the Sovereign – namely Elizabeth Debicki’s Ayesha. But if Gamora is angry at Star-Prince Star-Lord, it doesn’t show, and instead escorts Karen Gillan’s unruly Nebula into a quarantined sector of the Milano. That fiery, sisterly dynamic between Gamora and Nebula is one of the major plot points driving Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and just yesterday writer-director James Gunn offered some insight into one of the sequel’s crucial scenes. Be wary of spoilers, though.
Elsewhere, today’s second and final teaser – for now, at least – draws attention to Ego, the Living Planet. The great Kurt Russell will portray the human version of this ancient deity – an ancient deity who just so happens to be the long-lost father of Quill. Cue the existential crisis.
Circling back to Taserface, though, Chris Sullivan’s disfigured baddie is one of many villains lining the ranks of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. If you want to take a closer look at the sequel’s roster of bad guys – and with the U.S. theatrical release set for today, May 5th, chances are you will – Wednesday’s featurette ought to do the trick.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 shoots into theaters across North America today, May 5th. It’s eyeing a domestic opening in the region of $140m-$160 million, according to early forecasts, and is well on its way to a commendable weekend after collecting around $17m-$20m last night alone.
