Gavin Hood’s pulse-pounding war thriller Eye in the Sky may share a thing or two with the Ethan Hawke-fronted Good Kill – namely the moral minefield that is drone warfare – but as our review coming out of TIFF 2015 attests, Hood’s starry drama is a competent and thought provoking feature.
Headlining that ensemble as Colonel Katherine Powell is Helen Mirren, flanked by a standout cast that also includes Aaron Paul and the late, great Alan Rickman. It’s Paul that steps into the hotseat as drone pilot Steve Watts, who faces a moral and ethical dilemma when a helpless nine-year-old girl stumbles into a targeted hotspot, thrusting the mission – and her own safety – into jeopardy.
Thanks to a limited release via Bleecker Street, Eye in the Sky swooped into theaters last week on March 11, and We Got This Covered caught up with Mirren and Paul at the film’s premiere to discuss their respective parts in Gavin Hood’s thriller.
Check out what they had to say in the video above and be sure to catch Eye In The Sky as it’s now in theatres.
