Talking To Matt Damon At The Martian World Premiere

WGTC stopped by the world premiere of The Martian during TIFF and caught up briefly with Matt Damon.

One of the Fall’s buzziest films is without a doubt Ridley Scott’s The Martian.

Based on Andy Weir’s tremendously popular novel of the same name, the sci-fi flick stars Matt Damon as an astronaut abandoned on Mars after his crew leaves without him, thinking he died in a storm. Alone and with nowhere near enough resources to last until the next mission gets there (which is in 4 years), he must find a way to sustain himself if he hopes to ever make it back to Earth.

Already, the movie is earning fairly strong reviews from critics, with our own Sam Woolf saying the following:

Ridley Scott’s latest is a streamlined, sexy ride that compensates for its emptiness with a shiny exterior and roaring engines.

Last night at the Toronto International Film Festival, The Martian had its world premiere. Shortly before the screening, the cast and crew hit the red carpet to chat with journalists. While there, we caught up briefly with Damon, who discussed with us what it was like shooting so much of the movie alone and being on set without any of the other cast.

Hear what he had to say in the video above, and be sure to catch The Martian when it releases on October 2nd.
