Last week brought the news that fan favorite bounty hunter Boba Fett is the next Star Wars character to get his own solo spinoff movie, with Logan director James Mangold and Star Wars Rebels co-creator Simon Kinberg providing the script. Fans haven’t wasted any time in picking their ideal candidate to resurrect the Mandalorian assassin, either, as Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi has become one of the top choices.

The reasons why Waititi would be a great pick are pretty obvious. Apart from his boundless charisma, the prequels previously established that Boba Fett’s portrayed by Maori actors, as New Zealand-born Daniel Logan played the role as a child in Attack of the Clones, the first time Fett’s face was revealed. What’s more, he would also look the part.

Don’t believe us? Just check out this awesome piece of art from Marvel Comics’ Phil Noto, as shared by writer Tom Taylor, which sees Waititi “in costume” as the villain.

Though a prolific Tweeter, Waititi has yet to respond to all the buzz about him playing Boba Fett, so we’ve no idea if it’s something that he’d be interested in. Seeing as he’s already created a memorable character without showing his face in the form of chatty rock-man Korg in Thor: Ragnarok, though, we’d like to think he’d be up for it.

On the other hand, Daniel Logan has responded to the reports of a Boba Fett movie and has put his name forward to reprise his role as an adult. Many people have gotten behind the actor, too, who’s garnered a lot of support from the fanbase thanks to his frequent convention appearances. Meanwhile, others think that Temuera Morrison, who played Boba’s father Jango and his many clones in the prequels, should portray him instead.

As we wait for any further news on the Boba Fett movie to come our way, we’ll let you know as soon as someone decides to dub Korg’s dialogue over old Fett scenes. Come on, you just know it’s going to happen sooner or later.
