The Vermont State Troopers have welcomed two newcomers to their growing ranks in time for Super Troopers 2, with Deadline confirming today that Hayes MacArthur and Will Sasso have climbed aboard the crowdfunded comedy sequel.
Word comes only a few short days since we brought you news that Emmanuelle Chriqui and Rob Lowe had inked deals to join the ongoing production. The former landed the part of Genevieve Aubois, a French/Canadian cultural attaché, working in U.S relations. Lowe, on the other hand, will star opposite the Broken Lizard troupe as Guy Le Franc, a former hockey player and the current mayor of a Quebec Canadian border town.
[zergpaid]When it comes to how MacArthur and Sasso fit into proceedings, Deadline notes that they’ll portray two thirds of a trio of Mounties (Canadian Mounted Police), hulking officers who love nothing more than to look down their noses at the bumbling Vermont crew. We understand that MacArthur is attached to the part of Mountie Podein, with Sasso filling the boots of Mountie Archambault. Lynda Carter and Tyler Labine complete the ensemble, with the latter on board as the third and final part of that aloof, aforementioned trio.
After storming past their initial Indiegogo campaign – Broken Lizard raised $4.5 million upon putting the call out for $2 million – the crew are primed to don the badge, gun and moustache once more. Yes, Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske are all back for more shenanigans, and we couldn’t be more thrilled.
The script is written; the moustaches are thick and furry. All that’s left now is for Super Troopers 2 to zero in on a firm release date. We’ll keep you posted as the sequel inches closer to release.
