You can’t have missed all the hype surrounding the first trailer for the upcoming live-action remake of The Lion King that dropped late last year. When the teaser arrived online, Disney fans all over the world were blown away by how much it had managed to capture the feel of the beloved 1994 animated classic. And after amassing a whopping 224.6 million views in the first 24 hours, it was clear that the Mouse House was onto a winner.
Now, with its release date quickly approaching, Disney has dropped the first full-length trailer for The Lion King, giving us a much meatier glimpse at the highly anticipated film. And thankfully, it’s still looking just as impressive as it did with the last preview.
Its mix of vibrant cinematography, richly textured CGI, stunning visuals and teases of a familiar story should hit all the right notes to get fans feeling emotional and nostalgic, and though it’s still holding a lot back, we’re already sold on Disney’s latest live-action adaptation.
The Lion King will be the last of the three remakes that the studio’s releasing this year, after March’s Dumbo and May’s Aladdin. Admittedly, that first one was a bit of a dud, arriving to mediocre reviews and not doing much business at the box office.
But fear not, for Disney’s track record has been pretty impeccable lately and with Jon Favreau behind the camera, and a cast that includes the likes of Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, James Earl Jones, Beyonce and many more, we’re quietly confident that The Lion King can go on to become one of 2019’s most memorable movies.
