With Star Wars: The Last Jedi now available across all platforms – digital and otherwise – Entertainment Tonight has premiered the official gag reel for Rian Johnson’s sci-fi sequel. And it’s as hilarious as you’d expect.
Embedded below, this collection of bloopers includes all of your favorites (Rey, Finn, Rose, Luke Skywalker…you name it), but if there’s one scene that required an extra take – or, you know, 40 – it’s the one in which Carrie Fisher’s Leia tells the cocksure Poe Dameron that he’s been demoted after delivering a slap to the cheek. Over, and over, and over again.
To her credit, Leia Organa has every right to be upset with Oscar Isaac’s pilot, who single-handedly downed a Dreadnought at the expense of the Resistance fleet. It was a typically reckless move from the high-flying maverick, so you can’t exactly argue with Leia’s decision.

Of course, gag reels are so often a mainstay of Blu-ray and DVD packages, as they help bring some levity to the otherwise serious, life-or-death drama. And it’s refreshing to see The Last Jedi‘s cast and crew fool around on set, even if it leads to some additional takes. Or in the case of Fisher and Isaac, 40.
A blooper reel is by no means the only piece of additional content that’s included in The Last Jedi‘s Blu-ray, as Lucasfilm has carved out room for numerous deleted scenes and a special featurette dedicated to the director and the Jedi. Speaking of which, Mark Hamill recently voiced his frustration that Lucasfilm decided to remove the scene of Luke Skywalker reacting to the news that Han Solo, his brotherly ally, had perished.
Yes, of course, because it shows Luke was putting on a facade in front of Rey and even Chewie, that he was embittered and sort of a broken man. And I think the fact that he could let his emotions out when he was by himself would have made an impact on the audience because it allowed them to grieve the loss of Han Solo just the way Luke felt it. But that always happens in films. You say, ‘Oh, what about this scene where this happens or that happens?’ Because you want to give the fullest experience that you can. And like you say, it was brief enough that I was — [chuckles] They had time for me to milk that big alien but to show any human emotion? Nah, we don’t have time for that. But again it’s not my call.
The Last Jedi is now available to pick up via Digital HD and Blu-ray and can be ordered here.
