Incredible First Look At Finn And Phasma’s Deleted Duel From The Last Jedi Revealed

The Star Wars Show has shared an incredible first look at the deleted duel between Finn and Captain Phasma from The Last Jedi.

“Disobedient. Disrespectful. Traitor!”

Captain Phasma, otherwise known as the First Order’s elite Stormtrooper, is not to be trifled with. Ever since Gwendoline Christie’s towering Imperial was introduced in The Force Awakens, viewers have trembled in fear every time Phasma walks into the frame.

And while he was originally her subordinate, John Boyega’s hero has come back to haunt his former employer on two separate occasions, though it turns out Star Wars: The Last Jedi once featured an extended version of the Finn/Phasma duel on board the Supremacy.

It’ll be included as part of the sequel’s imminent Blu-ray release, but just yesterday, The Star Wars Show offered up a tantalizing preview of that deleted fight scene in question:

Stuck between a rock and a hard place, Gwendoline Christie’s ‘trooper is forced into killing her fellow Stormtroopers in fear that FN-2187 will out her as a coward – she did disable the shields on Starkiller Base, after all.

And so, what follows is an intense scrap between the two heavyweights, though you can’t fault Rian Johnson’s decision to leave it out of the final cut. Based on The Last Jedi‘s story arc, this scene would’ve taken place shortly after the so-called Holdo Maneuver, and therefore would’ve had an adverse effect on pacing. Still, John Boyega lives in hope that his Finn will be given a bigger fight come 2019.

Yeah, man, I didn’t expect it to be that quick if I’m being honest with you. I was like, wait, wait, what? He’s been like ramped up for a big fight and then it was over in a second [laughs]. But, hopefully, Finn gets to face someone else or has a fight that’s much longer by the way [in Episode IX].

Once The Last Jedi hits Blu-ray on March 27th, and Solo: A Star Wars Story blasts into theaters in May, all eyes in the galaxy will begin turning toward Episode IX ahead of its production start in July.
