If you fancy a glimpse behind the magic of J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens, then this 10-minute long before and after comparison VFX reel is definitely a must watch. Basically, the vid features behind-the-scenes shots before any effects were added, alongside the same shots as they appear in the finished film.
There’s quite a bit of stuff from the movie here that’s never been released online in any of the trailers or TV spots, including some great glimpses of Lupita Nyong’o and Andy Serkis in their mo-cap suits, as we get a much better idea of the process that brought Maz Kanata and Supreme Leader Snoke to life.
[zergpaid]This reel would have been sent out to Academy Award voters in a “for your consideration” capacity, and we’ll find out if they were impressed enough to hand out a few nominations to Star Wars: The Force Awakens tomorrow morning. As critically acclaimed and commercially successful as the film was, many feel that it unfortunately doesn’t have much of a chance at an Oscar outside of a technical category.
