Though he bit the bullet in 2017’s The Last Jedi, Supreme Leader Snoke remains a constant point of fascination among the Star Wars faithful.
Mostly because Rian Johnson (and J.J. Abrams, to an extent) ensured Snoke was cloaked in a thick veil of secrecy, so that, when Episode VIII pulled the old bait-and-switch, and Kylo Ren turned against his former master, moviegoers were genuinely surprised.
There is, however, a number of criticisms that Supreme Leader Snoke – and, by effect, his murky backstory – was tossed to one side during the throes of The Last Jedi, leaving the Star Wars fanbase wanting a little more context for a figure who quite literally towered over every other character in the Sequel Saga.
Well, it seems your prayers have been answered (kind of), as the Powers That Be have decided to release a Snoke comic entitled Star Wars: Age of Resistance – Supreme Leader Snoke #1.
Supreme Leader Snoke’s brutal training of Kylo Ren begins. Will the sadistic Snoke break his tormented protégé? Or has he underestimated the son of Han and Leia?
Slated to hit store shelves on September 11th, this comic comes from the mind of Tom Taylor and features artwork by Leonard Kirk. The cover, on the other hand (see above), was illustrated by Phil Noto, a true Star Wars veteran who has contributed to comic books based on such A-list characters as Darth Vader and Princess Leia. For Noto, Supreme Leader Snoke is just the latest in a long line of galactic royalty.
Meanwhile, on the big screen, the fabled Skywalker Saga is due to conclude in December of this year with the aptly titled Rise of Skywalker. It’s the ninth and final chapter in Lucasfilm’s beloved story – a story of rebellions and princesses and great, big, hairy Wookiees – and we couldn’t be more excited.
