With filming now wrapped on Star Wars: Episode IX, fans are once more getting their hopes up that Lucasfilm may finally be ready to reveal the movie’s official title. However, if a recent comment from Morning Blend anchor Mark Allen is anything to go by, then we could still have a few more months to wait until the grand unveiling.
Allen recently took to Instagram to post about his trip to Pinewood Studios, prompting one fan to ask him when we can expect Episode IX to have its long-awaited title drop. Surprisingly, Allen replied with an exact date: May the 4th, aka Star Wars Day. So far, it remains to be seen whether the host was being sincere in his answer, though to be honest, we wouldn’t bet on this being the real deal.
For one thing, you have to wonder if Allen would really be privy to such information so far in advance, but if he was, then it’s unlikely that he’d be allowed to casually drop this date without getting into trouble. What’s more, if Lucasfilm really was saving the title reveal until May, then that would mean going the whole of Star Wars Celebration in April without telling us the name of the film. Seeing how the studio has a track record of using the event as the platform to premiere the first full trailer for each new movie, it would be very out of character for Lucasfilm not to take advantage of this year’s Celebration to drop some major Episode IX material.
In short, we wouldn’t take Allen’s post too seriously – and based on the replies he’s getting, most fans aren’t – but regardless of how many weeks or months we still have to wait for the title, all will be revealed when Star Wars: Episode IX hits theaters on December 20th, 2019.
