In response to Hamill’s tweet sharing the latest promo for the horror reboot, in which he voices the iconic killer doll, Shatner offered his congrats to the actor on the job, joking that he’s following in his ol’ Daddy Darth Vader’s footsteps.

“Happy to know that the next generation of youth will be deathly afraid of you,” Shatner wrote. “You have become your father! Seriously, congratulations on the role.”

Of course, this isn’t the first time that Hamill has taken a detour to the Dark Side. Batman fans have been loving the actor’s portrayal of the Joker in various voiceover roles since the 1990s. Plus, he’s also played the Trickster on both the 90s and recent version of The Flash TV series.

Hamill also proved to be perfect casting as Chucky as he’d actually voiced the character before in a skit for Robot Chicken many years ago – though the star himself had totally forgotten this until the clip resurfaced on social media recently. Of course, this year will see Mark Hamill return to the role of Luke Skywalker as well in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which is set to wrap up the entire Skywalker saga.

But circling back to Child’s Play, and you can also expect to see Aubrey Plaza, Brian Tyree Henry and Gabriel Bateman in the film when it opens in cinemas on June 21st. Going by the trailers, the stage is set for Mark Hamill’s take on Chucky to be truly terrifying. Don’t miss it.
