Those who check out The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will be getting a healthy dose of Star Trek Into Darkness. If you haven’t already heard, a 9 minute preview of J.J. Abrams‘ sequel will be shown during IMAX screenings of Peter Jackson’s upcoming middle earth adventure. Now we’re hearing from Trek Movie that fans who see The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in non-IMAX will be treated to the first trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness. And to be clear, the trailer is completely different from the 9 minute preview
Just in case you didn’t understand the above, that means that to see the trailer and the 9 minute preview, you’ll have to see The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in both IMAX and non-IMAX, as the preview will only play in IMAX screenings and the trailer will only play in non-IMAX screenings. That or you can just wait for both to appear online, which shouldn’t take too long. Although, apparently, Paramount only plans to release the trailer on the web, not the preview. Though we all know how that usually turns out.
Trek Movie goes on to confirm that the trailer will be full length, not a teaser, and will contain footage from a number of different parts of the film. No details on specific scenes and whatnot but you can be sure that we’ll be getting a good look at the much anticipated sequel. Between the trailer and preview, we should have a very solid idea of which direction Abrams is taking Star Trek Into Darkness in come December.
All things considered, I don’t think we have anything to worry about with Star Trek Into Darkness. Abrams is back behind the camera, the main cast is back in front, additional actors have joined (does anyone else LOVE Benedict Cumberbatch) and most importantly, the Klingon may make an appearance!
Anyone else excited for Star Trek Into Darkness? Will you be checking out the 9 minute preview, the trailer or both?
