This weekend a new, teaser trailer for J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek Into Darkness made its way online. Coming in at just over a minute, the action-heavy tease does a great job of selling the film and also provides a good look at a ton of new footage. We get some comedic bits, highlights from some of the action setpieces and even a few character interaction. Unfortunately though, there isn’t much of Benedict Cumberbatch’s still mysterious villain, which is a bit disappointing.
That being said, this, combined with the excellent theatrical trailer, leaves me with no doubt in my mind that Abrams will walk away at the end of the Summer with the title for “most exciting Summer blockbuster.” There’s a lot of big titles coming out in the next few months, but I think Star Trek Into Darkness may take the cake. It really looks like a worthy follow up to the 2009 hit and I honestly can’t wait to see what Abrams and his cast have cooked up for us.
Arriving in theatres in 3D and IMAX on May 17th, the film stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood, Benedict Cumberbatch and Peter Weller.
