Robert Redford’s next directional film is quickly becoming one of the highest profile projects of 2012. Redford, whose last directional film The Conspirator drew names like James McAvoy, Tom Wilkinson and Danny Huston, may have out done himself.
His new directional film, The Company You Keep, which is based on the novel Neil Gordon, already had Redford set to star alongside Shia LaBeouf, Susan Sarandon, Nick Nolte, Richard Jenkins, Julie Christie, Stephen Root and rising star Brit Marling. Now, The Playlist reports that we can add Stanely Tucci and Chris Cooper to the cast.
The film is described as “a thriller centered on a former Weather Underground activist who goes on the run from a journalist (LaBoeuf) who has discovered his identity.”
It has been reported that the film will start shooting soon in Vancouver. Tucci will pay LaBeouf’s editor, while Cooper will play Redford’s brother, who looks after his niece, which presumably is the role Marling’s taken.
This will be Redford’s first acting gig in 5 years, his last being Lions For Lambs, which he also directed.
The Company You Keep is due for release in 2012.
