Last month, we finally learned that the next solo film to feature one of the most recognizable superheroes in the world will indeed be titled Spider-Man: Far From Home. Not only does this mean that we can stop referring to it as “Homecoming 2,” but the reveal has also ignited a veritable brushfire online, as everyone’s speculating as to what that subtitle may be referring to. Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige says there are several meanings, naturally, but we all know he’s going to play it coy for quite a while.
What I find to be hilarious about the whole situation is that there are still many people who believe Peter Parker will remain dead following the events of Avengers: Infinity War – and those saying Far From Home is something made up by the media to generate clicks. Yes, there are a few who have downed enough Kool-Aid to state the latter.
But if you’re of sound mind and regularly keep up with news pertaining to superhero movies, then you’ve known for some time that the first film to follow Avengers 4 in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be that of a sequel to 2017’s Homecoming.
And in case you require some reaffirmation, the Instagram account belonging to TomHollandChina recently posted a photo from the set (seen below) showing Tom Holland once again back at it as Peter – and he’s enjoying a walk with Mr. Delmar (who you might remember from the first film). As such, Spidey may soon be sinking his teeth into Queens’ best sandwiches.
As you have no doubt gathered from this and other set pics to have emerged, Peter Parker is very much alive and no doubt protecting the streets of New York. So, no matter what hyperbole Marvel Studios may want you to believe, expect for Phase Four to be business as usual. Sometimes, a cigar is just a cigar.
Spider-Man: Far From Home arrives in theaters on July 5th, 2019.
