From Quentin Beck to the Skrulls, Spider-Man: Far From Home is full of characters operating under false personas, and thanks to a recent post from the film’s Twitter account, we now have confirmation that even Ned Leeds hasn’t been going by his legal name.
The newly shared promo features a close-up of Ned’s passport, in which we can plainly see that the first name of Peter Parker’s best friend is actually Edward. Okay, so it may not be the most shocking revelation – not least because Ned’s legal name is also Edward in the comics – but when the MCU’s own MJ isn’t named Mary Jane, it’s still nice to get a little clarification.
The promo also shows the beginning of Ned’s short-lived romance with Betty Brant. Whether or not these two kids will ever get back together remains to be seen, but at the very least, it feels safe to assume that we haven’t seen the last of Jacob Batalon’s character.

So far, a release date for Peter’s next solo outing has yet to be set. But while the inevitable Spider-Man 3 was excluded from Marvel’s recent Phase 4 slate announcement, fans are currently speculating that the film could still be arriving within the next few years.
Indeed, after the cliffhanger ending of Spider-Man: Far From Home, surely Sony can only leave us waiting for so long. And besides, how many years can they leave it before Tom Holland and his similarly young co-stars can no longer pull off playing school kids? In short, don’t be too surprised if the MCU still has one additional feature planned for Phase 4, but in the meantime, the new era kicks off with the release of Black Widow on May 1st, 2020.
